Examine the power of open source and publicly available EEG technology and how it can broaden your understanding of basic everyday functions such as: focus, creative thought, meditation, and sleep. I will open the door to how these technologies can be built at home as a stem project or can be easily purchased online. Resources available to help strengthen your knowledge of EEG innovation and community so that everyone interested is compelled to explore it. I will demonstrate fist hand using the Emotiv EPOC how brain waves can be read using my own biometric data in real-time. The activities I will use to demonstrate brain data activity are: Music production (1 minute demo with synthesizer), Reading a tongue twister, doing a math problem, and picking up a heavy weight. All of these activities will demonstrate how the 5 brain waves interact with motion and attention and how viewers can unlock their potential in neuroscience exploration.

Viewers will get a chance to receive a curated view of an open Source Neuroscience build platform such as Open BCI. Therein, viewers will learn of the components required to build such sophisticated equipment and the affordability of it too. I will bring up the many communities available to people who are enthusiasts or are just getting into the topic of EEG. Branching from the open source marketplace for this technology, viewers will gain knowledge on how to stay up to date with recent findings and scientific reports that are shaping the world of Neuroscience today by briefly curating the site Research Gate. Topics of knowledge sharing and credibility will be discussed as well as the benefits for adults and youth to get involved. After speaking to the vast knowledge base that Research Gate provides on EEG, Participants will learn about the necessity of EEG technology and development for the handicapped and disabled youths. EEG is a technology that has been developing over decades and has marked a turning point for research on various mental conditions such as epilepsy and behavioral disorders.

On the topic of behavioral disorders, viewers can see the impact this technology has made in changing the way we proactively identify changes in our minds and when they become disorders. The topic of sleep and efficient rest will come into play as we will review studies on the efficacy of EEG and REM sleep analysis. Handicapped and disabled youths can get inspired by how accessible this technology is and how powerful their minds are since the technology works directly with the naturally occurring impulses in the brain.

The presentation will conclude with the fun aspects of EEG technology and how parents, kids, and enthusiasts can turn innovative and thought provoking projects using EEG technology into an opportunity to learn about the complexities of Neuroscience. Notable projects that will be mentioned are: Brain controlled Drones via EEG, Using the EEG to make music, and using the EEG to build applications. The final concept will include all participants to challenge their abilities with stem and venture into how programs can be built from scratch using languages like Java and Javascript to make compelling applications that may bridge gaps in assisting people suffering from PTSD, Speech Disabilities, and ADHD worldwide.
