Fab City Hamburg has recently started a project to develop the “Fab City OS” (“OS” = Operating System). The workshop aims to find out the needs of the Fab City actors concerning digital infrastructures.
More precisely it wants to understand which software / digital infrastructures the fab cities and their actors need to be able to cooperate/produce better with each other and also with companies. One of the premises of the Fab City is the DITO (Data In - Data Out) concept, the exchange of data between the cooperating cities.
What conditions are necessary to take this concept forward? What software and functionalities are needed to make the Fab City-mode of production a reality across the value chain of distributed production (design - purchase - manufacturing - adaption/repair - recycle). How can knowledge within the Fab City-network be effectively produced in a collaborative process? Do we need a Fab City Wiki for example? How important is data sovereignty?
